Paul Weller - Brighton Centre

I was really looking forward to photographing this gig. Paul's current album Wake Up The Nation  has been played so many times by me this year and in the past its been hard getting a photo pass for his gigs.

So you can imagine my frustration when i got the the venue and found out the the photo pit at the front of the stage has been taped off as they are filming for his new DVD (I would think that what is was for). No photographers were allowed in the pit due to a video camera on a track that was taking up the whole thing.  Luckily I  got there early and managed to get at the front of the barrier in the crowd. I stood there for 2 hours to save my spot. The support bands Cow and The Bees were excellent though, so is was not that bad.The only problem was that i could only shoot from one angle. Thanks god I brought the long lens along.

Laura Marling - Wedgewood Rooms

Laura Marling has been an artist that i have wanted to photograph for ages. She was playing at Portsmouth's Wedgewood Rooms which i have not shot in before. Really small venue, but has a great vibe. Had a little problem of losing my lens hood half way through the second song, but luckily found it by the beginning of the third (was just about to get down on my hands and knees to search).

Happy with the pics and really enjoyed Laura's set, she's is an amazing singer. I was comissioned by Ilikemusic.

James Zabiela - Mixmag Shoot

Think this may have been the quickest portrait shoot i have ever done. Got a call from James in the morning saying that he needed some new pics to go with his new cover mount cd. This was to be given away with the new issue of Mixmag. So managed to hire small studio in Southampton. Always a pleasure to photograph James and we got some great pics from the shoot
The cd is a great listen so make sure you pick up a copy now!!

Ellie Goulding - Southampton Guildhall

Been looking forward to this gig for ages after getting commissioned by Ilikemusic. Ellie Goulding's album Lights has been one of my favorites of 2010 (seems a lot of shoots lately have been like that). Really good gig, she sounded great and with a bit of dodgy lighting at the beginning out the way I way happy with the shots I got.

Also got some good shots of the support act Sunday Girl, who has been tipped by many people in the industry as an artist to watch in 2011.
